Well I had some advice and thought about it myself as well, to create another blog again. However this one I will be posting on a regular basis because it deals a lot with school and my future and that is one of the most important things to me right now. So I dont know how much I will be posting here on top of the very few posts I had been making recently. Just thought I give a shout out to anyone who would like to follow my new addition.

The new blog is focused on Finance and Investing. I dont know how interested anyone will be in that type of stuff though. Anyways, if you see me commenting under that alias its just me.

The new blog can be found here: Canadian Investor Within

Now this really is not a study of any sort but merely an observation I have began to notice over the year.

Going to class makes a difference on the transcript. I have no doubt for myself this is working. Also I have had the opportunity to live with/ have lived with/ lived around a very wide variety of people. It does seem to be evident that the people who attend class on a regular basis do much better. In fact everyone that I know that has succeeded with great marks rarely miss a class. Those who never go, are at the back of the herd.

Unfortunately there are always exceptions, one being a girl I know who hardly misses classes and barely is getting the requirements to stay in the program. For her though, she hates school and really is not too efficient at doing work and studying. What I have learned from this situation is that less is more. There are way too many distractions going on for there, I wish the best for her though.

For myself, I am rolling on 100% attendance. It is much easier to do now that science classes are not involved, 26 hours of class to a now 16, makes a world of difference. Plus I absolutely love what I am learning, so I hope I’m on a good course.

One thing that really has amazed me this year is the amount of hints teachers will give out in the middle of lecture. Some more evident than others of course but none the less small keys to success.

I have had quite a bit of support on here even though it was not the goal but a real benefit to have so thank you. I am on the home stretch with finals in sight with all my term work complete. It is nice to have a breath of fresh air before taking a dive back into the books.

Moral of the story: GO TO CLASS

Job!

yeah I have been singing that tune all day. I thought it was relevant to the task at hand for myself lately: that being finding a job of any financial nature preferably.

Taking the excellent advise of Georgie T. of being like his big brother Bob, I got a haircut. I had grown quite the mop over the winter. Now after paying the most I have ever paid for a hair cut (30 dollars Canadian) the hair is short and neat again. Now I have to put on my good shoes and hopefully I can work my charm to land myself a job in the next few weeks while school settles down.

I just completed a few midterms and did well so I’m feeling good :)

Oh and what is the rush with everyone these days? I have seen quite a few accidents just in my 5 minute walk to campus in the past few days along with a crazy person driving through a red today. Not a fresh red either, a good minute of red, I’m completely boggled?
I guess I missed the memo…

goodnight peeps!

Yes that is the question I had to ask myself after a spur of daily in-takings of coffee. Before you could call myself the “I need a boost” drinker of coffee. Now is “I wake up and turn on the coffee maker for breakfast” consumption of Mississippi mud.

Today I am lab rat where I will be testing to see if I can function properly without the caffeine, and so far its all good. That’s reassuring so I can drink it tomorrow morning!

On a side note…

Today’s Objectives: beef up the resume, create a cover letter, study for friday’s middy, go to classes, squeeze in some cardiovascular exercise, don’t drink coffee

Am I addicted?

Apparently wearing glasses, walking home after studying at school on a Friday night attracts flying eggs! I guess in my quest of being a nerd this semester in order to improve my grades has finally come true. The “cool” kids got to have some fun and complete a successful drive-by egging.

Funny enough though the lucky egg or shall I say lucky me, it bounced off my leg and smashed all over the sidewalk.

I have been gone a while, busy with school and other aspects of life. Thought I would share a little of life’s crazy events with anyone who reads this :)

I think I’m going to make an omelet for breakfast

Well it is that time of the year again for a student looking for summer employment. All the companies start looking to fill in the temp positions during the warmer months here in the northern hemisphere. Warm weather would be nice considering its been a blizzard all night already and a possible snow day/no school tomorrow is on the minds of many.

Today I ventured to a career fair type deal where 200+ companies come and set up shop looking for some students but mostly for soon to be graduates. Unfortunately for myself I will not be graduating so the job opportunities were slightly slimmer. However I got a few resumes out there, and talked for what seemed like 10 hours (2 hours in reality). I cant remember doing something that was so simple as talking to people being so tiresome.

Some of you may have read about my fear of public speaking. Well thanks to your help I had my nerves under control and I really felt good about everything. So much for being shy.

I hope to find something in the financial industry for now and then start to work out from there.

Lots of online applications to come!

But now time for some sleep, goodnight.

It all started last night on the last day of the month. A macroeconomic exam was scheduled to be written the following day (today). Well I spent a good 3-4 hours drawing out graph after graph to study all the different types and effects in each. Needless to say I have to go purchase some more paper and well plant a tree too.

So anyways I spent all that time going over and over everything to make sure I could receive a good mark on my first midterm exam of the semester. Went to bed at 2am, woke up at 7am. Five hours of sleep is plenty! I began studying more this morning. Well actually by the time I finish this it will most likely be tomorrow, and for simplicity’s sake, Saturday. Back to what I was talking about, graphs, right. I woke up and did even more graphs! Good thing that is what I was supposed to be studying. Notice the emphasis on “was” because Old Man Winter gave us a wondrous surprise, a gracious dropping of snow with plenty more to come. Yup, you guessed it, school was cancelled and thus my exam postponed. I am actually indifferent to when I write the exam, but I had already downed a large coffee by 9am. I now have the energy supply of a 8 year old and nothing really to do except surf the web quietly while the rest of the city sleeps.

What did I learn? When you can barely cross the road to get a coffee, check to see if school is cancelled before consumption of coffee begins.

Oh, I am sure you would love to see my graphs too! along with my chicken scratch writing :)

Homework

Want more? got 20 more pages :)

Well its that time again for me.

It has been quite a few years since I even had to do any form of presentation (high-school). I have to do a short one tomorrow in one of my classes. It actually took me all high-school to get over the fear and finally be comfortable. Now since it has been about 3 years since then, the butterflies decided to come back. I am trying to focus myself and be as prepared as possible. Somehow it isn’t enough. Yup, deep breath, just thinking and writing about it getting me all hyped up.

Oh its 10% of my final mark too….

Any pointers? I realize that if anyone reads this I might have done the presentation, if that is the case, I am still open to ideas because there will be more to come.

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow evening!

(skip to bottom if reading a boring story of my day is not what your looking for and just want to know what the purchase really is!)

It was a pretty early morning today. I rose around 9am today, not bad for a weekend that’s for sure. I had to make a trip to the bank and pick up my regular weekly groceries. I was pleased to cash-in two government GST return cheques that are always a nice surprise in the mail. It really feels like free money when these bad boys roll in.

SO the past few days I have been just scouting the FutureShop website for various electronics that are new these days. I happened to come across a bunch of headphones, many of which are $100+ !!! I guess I have not really looked into this section before but geez those are some expensive ear speakers. I did however come across a set that was fairly priced and had really great reviews.

Alright so here is a little information on me, I have pretty small ears, yes smaller then average. The fact that I only own a pair of those ear plugs for headphones makes the listening experience quite painful after a good hour or so. The speakers on my laptop are sufficient at times, but the sound quality isn’t the greatest and I can still hear all external noise in the apartment. So what better then to get some nice headphones that cover the ears.

After the bank I wandered into FutureShop and bought myself the headphones! It is a bit funny to think that the government financed my purchase and actually received some of it back with the tax on the bill.

Anyways, I got my food and jumped on the bus back home.

I am happy to say that although my ears are quite small my head may just be average. My conclusion on this is that when the headphones were removed form the package they actually fit perfectly on my head without the need to resize them, what a relief. Im no Dumbo, but at least im no melon head either  :)

THESE HEADPHONES ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! THE QUALITY THESE THINGS PRODUCE IS UNREAL AND VERY COMFORTABLE!!!(not to mention I don’t know how loud I’m talking with them on)

The headphones are Panasonic Stereo Headphones (RPHTX7K).

A little description from the website “Retro-style Stereo Headphones for use with your MP3 Player or Personal CD Player for a quality listening experience. They have a distinctive padded headband and comfortable padded ear cushions. Also included is a 2 metre extension cord and stereo plug adaptor for home use.
